Baseball Splits Saturday Doubleheader With Seahawks

North East, Md. – What a great time of the year if you are an avid sports fan.  March Madness in full swing and just nineteen days away from opening day for Major League Baseball.  More importantly, the FCC Cougar baseball squad is in the thick of their season!  Today's doubleheader baseball game was more suited for a contest featuring the Denver Broncos vs. Carolina Panthers in mid-December as the weather conditions today were not favorable baseball.  The Cougars were victorious in game one 8-6 and dropped game two 11-1.  FCC sits at 20-7 overall including 5-2 in conference play.

Game 1

The Cougars rallied from a four run deficit to take game one over the Seahawks behind a stellar pitching performance from FCC ace Carson Bach.  The tall righty improved to 2-1 on the season and was dealing on the hill.  Bach struck out 13 batters and gave up just two hits in the victory over six innings of work.  FCC's offense mustered up eight runs in the final two innings to secure the victory.

FCC second baseman Billy Lennox continues to heat up at the dish going 3-for-4.  Teammates CJ Mackinson and Seth Holler each had two hits.  Mackinson would register three RBI.  Mark Martinez would go 1-for-2 (double, 2 RBI) at the plate along with two free passes.

Game 2

The Seahawks jumped on FCC starting pitcher Brian Rourke (2-1) for six runs in the first inning and the Cougars were not able to recover.  FCC had a total of two hits in game two.  Right fielder Ashtin Byers connected on his first home run of the season.

Up Next: FCC will host Mercer County Community College on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 in a doubleheader.  First pitch is slated for 2:00 PM EST.
