Cougars Swat Hornets To Earn Doubleheader Sweep

FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College baseball team took on Shenandoah University JV on Sunday afternoon for a doubleheader. The Cougars defeated the Hornets by the scores of 8-0 and 3-2 for the sweep.

Game One

Beasley throws gem to earn the win on the hill

FCC starting pitcher James Beasley turned in a spectacular outing. He tossed five innings and gave up just two hits while fanning six batters. With the victory, Beasley improves to 3-1 on the season.

Mark Minicozzi is swinging a hot bat for FCC. He went 3-for-4 while teammates Hayden Kissel and Mitchell Long had a pair of hits. Eric Naylor deposited his fifth homer of the season. Naylor and Dillon Cooperrider knocked in two runs.

Game Two

Cougars earn victory in extra frame

Tip your cap to FCC starting pitcher Sean Clark. The righty threw five scoreless innings and struck out 10 batters and suffered the tough no-decision. He gave up just one hit in the outing. The Cougars led 2-0 heading into the top of the seventh. The Hornets would score two runs off of FCC reliever Brayden Coe. Coe is charged with the blown save, however, earns the victory as FCC scored a run in the bottom of the eighth to earn the victory.

The Cougars tallied just four hits in the game. Jared Pine led the FCC offense with two hits and two stolen bases.
