FCC Win Streak Snapped With Loss To Skipjacks

WYE MILLS, Md. – The (RV) Frederick Community College baseball team hit the road early on Friday morning to take on the conference leader (RV) Chesapeake College. The Skipjacks defeated the Cougars in game one by the score of 9-3. FCC sports an overall record of 32-14 (18-5 MD JUCO) and the Skipjacks are 40-6 (20-1 MD JUCO).

The good news for FCC starting pitcher Chris Altopiedi was that in four innings of work he gave up just one hit. The bad news is that he allowed seven free passes. In the bottom of the second, Altopiedi walked in two runs as the Skipjacks took a 3-1 lead after two innings of play.

FCC hung around, however the Skipjacks exploded for five runs on five hits off of FCC reliever Colby Maun. Altopiedi was tagged with the loss and drops to 0-2 on the year.

The Skipjacks sent their ace to the mound and he didn't disappoint. Joseph Nahas goes to 10-0 on the season as he went 5.2 innings. He struck out 11 FCC batters. The Cougars fanned a total of 13 times in the loss.

The Cougars tallied six hits in the defeat. Brady Harju went 2-for-4 and knocked in a pair of runs. Harju has been on fire as of late at the dish. He is hitting .353 on the season.
