Baseball Wins Season Opener 8-2 Over Delta College

WINTER HAVEN, Fl. – Have a day Jacob Wetzel. The Old Dominion University transfer made his presence known right off the bat. He knocked in six runs as the Cougars defeated Delta College on Saturday morning by the score of 8-2.

Wetzel deposited a baseball over the fence for his first dinger of the season. He added a 3-run triple as well and ended up with three hits in four plate appearances. Priamo Lozada also went deep and collected two hits while teammates Connor Hanafin and Brett Stallings registered a pair of base knocks. Brandon Austin and Mitch Long each chipped in with a double. The Cougars tallied 12 hits on the day.

Brad Foster (1-0) picked up the win on the hill. The southpaw tossed four innings and gave up just one earned run and fanned four batters. Max Cannon worked the final three innings and picked up the save.

FCC (1-0) will return to the diamond on Sunday morning when they take on Lansing Community College. First pitch is set for 9:30 A.M.
