Baseball offense explodes in doubleheader sweep of CSM

La Plata, Md. – What a beautiful day for a baseball doubleheader. The FCC offense took full advantage of the warm weather by lighting up the scoreboard for 42 runs in a clean sweep of College of Southern Maryland by the scores of 17-0 and 25-1. With the victory, FCC improves to 8-4 on the year while CSM drops to 0-7 on the season.

The FCC offense came out swinging the bats in game one. The Cougars pounded out 15 hits in the victory. Connor Hanafin, Mitchell Long, and Priamo Lozada each deposited baseballs over the fence. Lozada was a perfect 4-for-4 at the dish and added a pair of doubles along with his dinger while knocking in a total of three runs. Mitchell Long sure didn't leave any ducks on the pond. He tallied a team-high six RBIs in the victory. Hayden Kissel, Kyle Schofield, and Austin Kuntz each registered doubles. Leadoff hitter Brett Stallings chipped in with two hits.

FCC starting pitcher AJ Cieslinski (W, 2-1) was dealing from the start. He fanned four batters in four innings of work and gave up just three hits. Jeff Jones tossed one inning to preserve the shutout.

Game Two

CSM 1

The Cougars scored 15 runs in the second frame to secure the victory over the Hawks. Jacob Wetzel , Priamo Lozada, Hayden Kissel, and Brodey Neveker each hit bombs to propel the Cougars to victory. Kissel is heating up and he went 3-for-4 at the dish while scoring three runs. Wetzel and Lozada knocked in total of nine runs in the second game. The middle of the order continues to get it done for FCC. Brodey Neveker joined the hit parade and knocked in three runs.

Nick Karlinchak (W, 1-1) picked up the win by tossing four innings and recording four punchouts. Max Cannon recorded the final three outs for the Cougars.

On Deck

FCC returns to the diamond on Saturday (3/16) when they host Cecil College in a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 12:00 P.M.
