Coe, Wetzel lead baseball to victory over Cecil

FREDERICK, Md. – Today's matchup featured Cecil College against Frederick Community College in a key Region XX DII matchup. Brayden Coe (W, 3-0) got the nod on the mound for FCC skipper Rodney Bennett against the Seahawks. Not an easy day for any pitcher with cold tempearatures and a gusty wind blowing out of the yard. Cecil would jump on the scoreboard early with a solo shot from the leadoff hitter. However, Coe would settle in nicely and strike out the side in the first. He would toss five innings and pick up the win. He remains perfect on the year and struck on eight in the win. Coe would give up just three hits as he was locating the fastball well and had the curveball dropping off the table. FCC would defeat the Seahawks in five innings by the score of 15-1.

Jacob Wetzel (.533 BA) tallied two hits and knocked in six runs. He continues to rip the cover off the ball for the Cougars. Wetzel recorded his fifth triple on the year and is just three shy of tying the single season triples record. Hayden Kissel (.261 BA) and Connor Hanafin (.647 BA) each doubled as the Cougars punched out 10 hits in the shortened contest. Brandon Austin is heating up for the Cougars as he had two hits and scored two runs. The Cougars lit up the scorebaord in the second inning by plating eight runs to put the game out of reach.
