Baseball Wins One-Run Thriller Over ACM

FREDERICK, Md. – Frederick Community College starting pitcher Brayden Coe tossed a gem on Tuesday afternoon as the Cougars defeated Allegany College of Maryland by the score of 3-2 in a pitcher's duel. Coe remains perfect on the year with a record of 5-0. With the victory, FCC improves to 15-9 (7-3 MD JUCO). More importantly, the Cougars sit at 7-1 overall in Region XX DII matchups.

Coe (5-0, 2.48 ERA) was in command from the start. He pitched 6.2 innings and gave up just five hits in the win. He recorded three strikeouts and gave up just two free passes.  AJ Cieslinski came in relief to record the final seven outs of the game to pick up his first save on the season. Cieslinski was sharp out of the bullpen, allowing no hits and recorded three punchouts.

Allegany would jump on the scoreboard first as they scored on a passed ball in the top of the second. FCC would answer back with two runs by big hits from Jacob Berry and Brett Stallings. With the bags loaded, Berry stepped up to the plate and hit a long fly ballthat hit off the top of the fence to score a run. Berry just missed a grand slam. Stallings would deliver an RBI single, with FCC taking in a 2-1 lead after two. The Cougars would score one more run in the bottom of the fifth that would lead to the 3-2 victory.

Jacob Wetzel (.429 BA) and Brandon Austin (.317 BA) each pounded out two hits. Hayden Kissel went 1-for-1 with two walks. The Cougars slugged nine hits in the win.

FCC will return to the diamond on 4/4 when they travel to Hagerstown CC to take on the Hawks for a single game (nine innings). First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M.
