Cougars Swat Hornets To Earn Doubleheader Sweep

FREDERICK, Md. – What a beautiful day for some Cougar baseball! A dominating performance today by the FCC baseball team as they took a pair from Shenandoah University JV by the scores of 12-1 (5-innings) and 10-0 (5-innings) on Tuesday afternoon on the campus of Frederick Community College.

Game One

The FCC offense came out swinging the bats from the start. FCC batted around in the first inning and tallied six hard hits, producing five runs. Mitch Long (.369 BA), Jacob Wetzel, Priamo Lozada, and Brandon Austin smacked two hits each in the game. Long and Austin drove in three runs each while Lozada unloaded his ninth homer of the year. Austin Kuntz went 1-for-3 in the win and knocked in a pair of runs.

AJ Cieslinski (W, 7-1) was dealing on the hill for the Cougars. He tossed a complete game and gave up just five hits to pick up his seventh win of the season.

Game Two

Brett Stallings (.351 BA) and Jacob Wetzel (.400 BA) pounded out a pair of hits in the win. Priamo Lozada (.438 BA) and Connor Hanafin recorded two RBIs each.

Nick Karlinchak (W, 5-2) scattered just three hits and picked up the win on the mound. He allowed three free passes while punching out four batters. Zachary Scott pitched a perfect fifth inning to preserve the win.

Hot off the press

For the second consecutive year, FCC has earned the No. 1 seed entering the Region XX DII tournament that will take place on May 10-12. Frederick Community College will be the host site for the event.
