Long, Cieslinski deliver in clutch for FCC in Region XX Tourney

FREDERICK, Md.Mitch Long had a pair of hits and drove in four runs as the Frederick Community College baseball team defeated the Knights from CCBC Essex on Saturday afternoon by the score of 10-1 (7 innings) in the Region XX DII Tourney. FCC extends its win streak to nine games with an overall record of 34-13 and will play on Sunday for the championship title. The Cougars will square off against the Knights' once again. First pitch is set for 11:00 A.M. at FCC on 5/14/19.

The Cougars put a crooked number on the scoreboard in the bottom of the third. Hayden Kissel and Brandon Austin each hit singles. Kyle Schofield would lay down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Kissel and Austin to second and third base. Brett Stallings would come through with an RBI single that would score Kissel. The big blow of the inning came when Mitch Long parked his seventh homer of the season. Long hit a 3-run bomb and it was a no-doubter once it left the bat. Brandon Austin would connect in the fourth inning with a solo shot of his own. Jacob Wetzel had two hits in the win, including his 11th triple of the season.

AJ Cieslinski (W, 8-1) pitched a gem on the mound for FCC. The righty tossed 6.1 innings and gave up just one earned run, while striking out eight batters. He is now sporting a 1.45 ERA on the season. Max Cannon came in out of the bullpen to record the final two outs of the game.
