FCC Falls Short In Slugfest

FREDERICK, Md.- The Frederick Community College baseball team saw its season come to an end on Saturday afternoon as they fell to Lackawanna College by the score of 14-8 in the NJCAA Northeast Division II Championship Game. The Falcons punched their ticket to the NJCAA DII World Series with the victory.
FCC would jump on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning thanks to a double off the bat of Hayden Kissel. The Falcon would plate 10 runs in the top of the fourth inning. The two big blows in the inning came off the bats of Ryan Cole who connected on a 3-run bomb and Thylar Summarell who hit a 2-run blast. Summarell would connect for another long ball in the top of the eighth to secure the victory for the Falcons.
The Cougars would not go away quietly. In the bottom of the sixth, Brandon Austin, Kyle Schofield, and Mitch Long each had two-run doubles to cut the lead to 10-7. However, the Falcons would add four more runs late to secure the victory.
FCC starting pitcher Brad Foster (9-3) was hit with the loss. Priamo Lozada had a pair of hits and four different Cougars smacked doubles in the loss.
Congratulations to the FCC baseball team on a solid season. The Cougars finish the 2019 season with an overall record on 36-15.
Ryan Cole was named 2019 Northeast District MVP for his performance in the series. Cole went 3-for-4 with four RBI's in Lackawanna's 7-0 game one victory and he batted 3-for-4 on Saturday, which included a 3-run homer, to prople the Falcons clinch the series in game three.
