No. 17 Baseball Suffers First Loss of Season in 5-2 Setback to Pioneers

Auburndale, Florida - After committing just 10 errors all season heading into Sunday's match-up against Delta College, four costly miscues came back to haunt the #17 baseball team in a 5-2 loss to the Pioneers (1-2). The Cougars suffered their first setback of the season, sitting at 8-1 overall.

The Cougars had a golden opportunity in the bottom of the sixth inning, but were unable to capitalize. They had the bags packed with no outs, but were only able to push one run across.

Brett Stallings (2B), Priamo Lozada, and Brodey Neveker had two hits each. The trio continues to heat up at the plate. Stallings is hitting .379 in the leadoff spot. Lozada is hitting .300 on the nose while teammate Neveker is at .417.

Matt Parson was tagged with the loss. He falls to 1-1 on the season. He tossed 4.2 innings, punching out seven batters.

The Cougars will look to bounce back after their first loss of the 2020 campaign with a 5:00 PM game on Sunday night against Lake Michigan College.
