Bombs Away: FCC blasts 3 HRs in dominating victory

CATONSVILLE, MD. - The No. 2 Frederick Community College Cougars opened Region 20 D2 Final Four postseason play in dominating fashion as they defeated the Skipjacks from Chesapeake College by the score of 10-5. With the win, FCC is now 40-5 on the year, including a 16-game winning streak.

The Cougars held off the rain and the Skipjacks as they were focused the minute they stepped off the bus. Danny Leo picked up the win and is now 8-0 on the season. Jared Hurlburt pitched three innings out of the bullpen to pick up his seventh save on the season. Leo tossed six innings and gave up just four hits while fanning seven batters.

FCC had their hitting shoes on today as they tallied 11 hits in the win. The entire lineup was squaring up the baseball and recorded some very hard hit outs. In the bottom of the second, Wyatt Miles and Josh Wilson went back-to-back as they each deposited a baseball over the fence. In the bottom of the eighth, Brodey Neveker hammered out a solo shot with the Cougars hitting three dingers on the day. That now gives the Cougars 51 deep flys on the season.

Aidan Masters just continues to flat out hit. He went 3-for-4 on the day, and scored three runs. He is batting .386 on the year and continues to produce at the top of the order. Miles went 2-for-4 and knocked in two runs in the win.

Major credit to the FCC defense as well in the victory. Justin Acal made some unbelievable plays in the field. Also, Josh Wilson covered some major ground in centerfield as he robbed at least two hits.
