Cougars Pick-up Sixth Shutout in Sweep Over Chesapeake College

FCC Cougars remain atop the Region 20 standings after the Cougars swept the Chesapeake College Skipjacks on the road 19-8 and 10-0.

Game 1:

Jake Holler brought the big bat in game one going four for four with five RBIs and three runs scored. Holler started with a triple in the third inning and singled in the fourth, sixth, and seventh innings. 

Aidan Masters fired the offense up with a single in the first, scoring one run and taking a 1-0 lead. Masters bagged three hits going yard in the fifth inning, recorded four RBIs, and scored two runs. 

Dakota Smith got the start on the bump for FCC. Smith yielded five runs on eight hits over four innings, walking only one and striking out four to pick up his fourth win. 

The Cougars totaled 13 hits in the game.  Holler, Masters, Nick Keane, and Jaylon Robinson each had multiple hits for FCC Cougars to give them the 19-8 victory in game one.  

Game 2:

Chris Durkin and Bryce Greene combined to pitch a shutout against the Skipjacks in game two to complete the sweep, winning 10-0 on Tuesday. 

Chris Durkin got the start for the Cougars and went four innings, allowing two hits, and zero runs over four innings, striking out two.

Aidan Greaney hit a double in the first inning, scoring two runs to get the Cougars on the board early. Josh Wilson doubled in the fourth to drive in a run, and Nick Keane hit a long ball in the fifth inning to extend their lead. Bryce Greene came in to close out the game with one inning pitched and two strikeouts. 

FCC Cougars tallied 11 hits in the game with Keane, Greaney, and Aidan Masters with multiple hits. Keane led Frederick with three hits in four at-bats.

  • The Frederick Cougars are ranked No. 11 in NJCAA DII Baseball Rankings for Week 6.
  • The Cougars have a .237 Batting Average Against, good for fourth in the NJCAA.
  • Frederick has six shutouts on the season. Only four other teams in the country have more.
