Cougars Dropped Divisional Game to Beaver County 69-55

The Frederick Community College Cougars fell to visiting Division II Community College of Beaver County, 69-55, in an NJCAA Region 20 game at the Athletics Center Saturday afternoon. The Cougars trailed by six points heading into halftime but were outscored by eight points in the second half.

Malik Witherspoon led FCC with 16 points, adding a career-high 22 rebounds and two assists. Treshawn Warren came off the bench and shot 5-for-8 from the floor to add 10 points to go with five rebounds.

The Cougars started the game on a roll to take an early lead, a jumper by Justin Morrisey at the 15-minute mark gave the Cougars a two-point lead, but Beaver was able to edge their way back ahead. FCC's final lead came a little over a minute later; a Witherspoon mid-range jumper, the Cougars regained an early first-half lead. Morrisey finished with 9 points and six rebounds.

The Cougars held a 47-35 advantage in rebounds in the game. They are back in action Saturday in a road Region 20 divisional game against Montgomery College at 1:30 PM.
