Cougars Hold on to Four-Point Victory Over Hagerstown

Frederick Cougars men's basketball downed Hagerstown Community College Hawks 82-78 Saturday afternoon.

This was an intense battle for both teams and a big confidence boost for the team to beat a Division One Region 20 opponent. The Cougars trailed by as many as five points in the first half but were able to battle back to take an 11-point lead going into halftime.

Sophomore shooting guard Justin Morrisey was six for seven from the field and scored 14 of his 25 points in the first half. In the second half, Hagerstown started to make a comeback and tied the game 60-60 with ten minutes left to play in the game. The game would include seven ties and 11 lead changes. Mike Davis, who would finish with 10 points, would sink a free throw for the Cougars at 2:12 left to tie the game 78 all.

A defensive battle would commence until Terrell Neal steals the ball from the Hawks, goes the length of the floor to break the tie, and gives FCC the lead with 31 seconds left. The Cougars would hold on to win their third game in a row by a four-point margin.

Neal would finish with 13 points with six rebounds and two steals. Jaden Arrington came alive for Frederick in the second half to score 11 second-half points and finish with 15 points.

The Cougars men's basketball team will host Virginia Peninsula CC on December 10, at 3 PM at the Athletics Center.
