Cougars Secure Victory Against Montgomery 76-69

Cougars men's basketball halted their two-game skid with a 7-point victory over Montgomery College Raptors 76-69 in a fiercely contested game.

Despite Montgomery taking an early lead in the first half, Frederick rallied back to take a 33-31 halftime lead.

The second half showcased more offense from both teams, but the Cougars outscored the Raptors in the second half 43-38. The Raptors couldn't find the bucket from beyond the arch, going 0 for 18 from three. Frederick's resilient defense limited Montgomery College to shoot 41.2% from the field.

Justin Morrisey scored a game-high 26 points with five assists while Terrell Neal dropped 17 points. Morrisey's leadership on the court, coupled with Neal's penetration to the hoop, propelled Frederick to maintain their momentum and control the flow of the second half. Malik Witherspoon followed up with 15 points and 10 rebounds. Ryan Turner had a big game off the bench with 8 points and 5 rebounds.

Cougars men's basketball improved to 11-10 overall and 4-6 in regional contests and are in eleventh place in Region 20.

Frederick will host Harford Community College Fighting Owls at home on Wednesday, February 14, at 7:00 PM. The Fighting Owls have an overall record of 14-11.
