Cougars Secure Victory Over Mercer County 2-1

In an exciting Saturday afternoon matchup, the Frederick Community College Cougars men's soccer team added another impressive victory to their season, improving to 5-3-3 by defeating the Region 19 opponents Mercer County Community College Vikings (7-6-2) with a score of 2-1.

The Cougars wasted no time making their mark on the game, as Alexandro Angulo Moreno found the back of the net in the 26th minute, courtesy of an assist from Iker Alvarenga, who placed a perfect through ball. Their momentum continued with a brilliant goal by Iker Alvarenga, assisted by Brian Sar, in the 39th minute.

While Mercer County managed to break through with a goal by Teddy Nkamanyi in the 87th minute, the Cougars' defense, led by goalkeeper James Bolin, held firm. Bolin made five crucial saves despite conceding a goal due to an unfortunate deflection in the late stages of the match.

The game showcased intense competition, with Mercer County taking 16 shots and committing ten fouls, while the Cougars tallied 11 shots and seven fouls of their own. Ultimately, Frederick emerged victorious, demonstrating their discipline and resilience on the pitch.
