FCC Softball Earns Sunday Split With Blue Knights

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – The Frederick Community College softball team split a doubleheader on Sunday morning with Olney Central College. The Cougars took game one by the score of 6-3 and dropped the second contest by the score of 2-0. FCC sits at 2-1 overall on the season.

Game One

FCC starting pitcher Rachel Benden had quite a game in the circle. She pitched a complete game and struck out eight batters to pick up the win. She had plenty of help from her offense.

The Cougars racked up 11 hits in the win. Shortstop Ryleigh Bolyard led FCC with three hits. She scored two runs and knocked in a pair of RBIs. Mikayla Toms (2B), Taylor Beckley (2 SB), and Whitney Dickerson each had two hits in the victory.

Game Two

Quite a pitching duel in the second game. The Cougar offense was held to just one hit. Kayla Green registered a hit and stolen base in the loss. FCC committed four miscues in the field. FCC starting pitcher Taylor Beckley (0-1) suffers the tough loss. She pitched six innings and struck out five batters.

On Deck

FCC will return to the diamond on Monday morning with a contest vs. Danville Area Community College as part of the Fast Pitch Dreams 2020. First pitch is set for 11:30 AM EST.
