Softball Loses in the Late Innings to Barons

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina – Mother nature didn't cooperate today with the FCC softball team as the first game of the day was pushed back an hour and the second contest was canceled due to inclement weather. Once they did hit the diamond, the Cougars were in a tight game with Rowan College at Burlington County. However, in the final two innings, the Barons would put 10 runs on the board to earn the 11-3 victory over the Cougars. With the loss, FCC falls to 3-5 overall on the season.

Kaitlyn Naill (2-for-3, RBI) and Kayla Green (2-for-3, 2B, 2 RBIs) led the FCC offense with two hits each. Rachel BendenMikayla Toms, and Emma Bedford each recorded a hit. The Cougars pounded out a total of seven hits in the game.

FCC starting pitcher Kathleen Duffy had a solid outing in the circle. She pitched 4.1 innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run. Kaitlyn Naill (0-1) came in relief and was hit with the loss. The Cougars committed four miscues in the field.
