Cougars Drop Two Games to CSM

GAME 1:
In an intense softball matchup that went down to the wire, the Frederick Community College Cougars came up short against the College of Southern Maryland Hawks in an extra-inning thriller, falling 5-4.

Hailey Justice started for FCC and pitched a complete game with five runs on nine hits with one strike out. Game one started with Frederick Community College taking an early lead in the 2nd inning, with Mackenzie Murray scoring on an error by the catcher. However, College of Southern Maryland quickly responded, tying the game at 1-1 in the same inning. 

The game remained deadlocked until the 8th inning when FCC lit the scoreboard up, with Avery Sickeri's double bringing in Piper Barnes to give them a 2-1 lead. Mackenzie Murray extended their lead with a crucial double, bringing in both Kyleigh Hull and Sickeri to make it 4-1. 

However, College of Southern Maryland mounted a dramatic comeback in the bottom of the 8th inning. A two-run homer narrowed the gap to 4-3, followed by a double, which brought in two runs to give the victory to the Hawks with a final score of 5-4 in Game 1.

GAME 2:
CSM took game two over FCC, 10-2 in game two.

Mackenzie Murray started for the Cougars and pitched a complete game with 10 runs on 10 hits with two strike out.

The Hawks got on the board first in the 2nd inning, but FCC fought back in the 4th inning, with Kaitlin Murphy's sacrifice fly bringing in Avery Sickeri, narrowing the deficit to 4-1. However, College of Southern Maryland extending their lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the inning,

Frederick managed to score again in the 5th inning, with Kyleigh Hull's double bringing in Ryan Mills, but College of Southern Maryland quickly countered and the game ended 10-2.

The Cougars' record is 2-10. Their next contest is on the road against Cecil College on Saturday, April 6, DH, starting at 12 PM.
