Cougars Conclude December Undefeated: Triumph Over Nighthawks 81-63

The Frederick Community College Cougars women's basketball team secured a stellar 81-63 victory against the Northern Virginia Community College Nighthawks, marking their fifth consecutive win in December and bringing them to a .500 record as they enter the winter break.

In a closely contested game featuring three ties and five lead changes, the Nighthawks held their largest lead of just one point in the first quarter, thanks to the relentless defense of the Cougars that prevented them from extending their advantage.

The turning point came at the end of the third quarter when, in a tied game, Amelia Robins found teammate Breonah Lawyer just seconds before the buzzer. Lawyer's successful three-pointer gave Frederick a crucial three-point lead entering the fourth quarter, setting the stage for the Cougars' defense to limit the Nighthawks to only six points in the final period.

Freshman guard Paige Smith led the Cougars offensively, delivering an outstanding performance with 28 points, nine rebounds, and four assists. Jasmine Hardy secured her third double-double, contributing 13 points and an impressive 13 rebounds. Breonah Lawyer added 13 points to the scoreboard, while Amelia Robins showcased her command of the court with five points, ten assists, and seven rebounds in the Cougars' 18-point victory.

Looking ahead, the Cougars are set to host ACMD at home on January 10 at 5 PM, aiming to carry their December success into the new year.
