Frederick Drops Game to Montgomery 90-72

Frederick Cougars women's basketball lost to Montgomery College Raptors, falling short 90-72. 

The Cougars kept the game close through the first quarter, only trailing by three points after 10 minutes of play. The Cougars could not secure possession and find their offense in the second quarter and were outscored 23-9. Despite trailing early in the game, Frederick displayed resilience in the fourth quarter, outscoring Montgomery College 30-16.

The team's leading scorer, Paige Smith, emerged as a standout player for Frederick, delivering a double-double with an impressive 29 points and ten rebounds to go with five assists. 

Additionally, Makayla Wiley came off the bench to add 9 points, and Alaysia Jemmott recorded nine rebounds and eight points. Freshmen Kayla Dangerfield and Alaysia Jemmott combined for 13 rebounds to help Frederick control the boards and out-rebound their opponent 46-45.

Cougars women's basketball drop to 9-9 on the season and 3-4 in regional contests and are in eighth place in Region 20.

Frederick will host Harford Community College Fighting Owls at home on Wednesday, February 14, at 5:00 PM. The Fighting Owls have an overall record of 3-18.
