The Cougars got out to a fast start, scoring the game's first five points.   However, the Lakers wouldn't roll over and went on a 15-2 run to build what would be their largest lead of the game halfway through the first quarter, 17-7.

The Cougars would battle their way back for the rest of the game. After the first quarter, Garrett would hold a seven point lead 21-14.
