Cougars Dominate Potomac State College 98-80

The Frederick Community College Cougars women's basketball team secured a resounding 98-80 victory over WVU Potomac State College Catamounts. From the opening tip-off, Frederick scored the game's first points, establishing an early lead and maintaining control throughout the game. The Catamounts pulled within one point right before the end of the second quarter, but that was as close as they would get. The Cougars would take a three-point lead into halftime, 47-44.

The Cougars would build on their lead in the second half, out-scoring Potomac State in both the third and fourth quarters and leading by as many as 26 points down the stretch.

Paige Smith's impressive 30-point contribution led the offensive for the Cougars, her second 30-point performance of the season. Amelia Robins supported the cause with 20 points and eight assists. Alaysia Jemmott added 18 points and 11 rebounds to the offensive firepower, while Kayla Dangerfield chipped in with 12 points. Makayla Wright dropped eight points with ten rebounds. The Cougars' balanced scoring attack kept Potomac State on their toes, unable to contain FCC's relentless offensive pressure as the Frederick cruised to an 18-point victory.

Cougars women's basketball improved to 11-10 on the season and 4-5 in regional contests and are in eighth place in Region 20.

Frederick will travel to the CCBC Essex Knights on Wednesday, February 28, for a 6:00 PM tip-off. The Knights have an overall record of 20-6 and are 9-0 in Region 20 Divisional contests.
