Cougars Tame Catamounts in Women's Soccer Victory

FREDERICK, Md. – A strong finish to the week for the FCC women's soccer team. On Wednesday, Lindsey Brant was named NJCAA DI Player of the Week and on Thursday afternoon the Cougars blanked WVU Potomac State College by the score of 8-0. With the win, FCC sits at 4-1 (1-1 MD JUCO) on the season while the Catamounts fall to 1-3. On the season, the Cougars have outscored their opponents 33-6 and are averaging 6.6 goals a game!

FCC was in control from the start as the Cougars tallied three goals in the first half and finished the final 45 minutes with five additional goals to earn the win. Lindsey Brant led the Cougars with four goals in the win. She has found the back of the net 17 times this season. Nicole Godoy made the most of her attempts. She scored three goals on four shots and turned in a stellar performance. In the win, FCC dished out seven assists. Leading the way in the assist column was Ashley Nguyen and Megan Allen with a pair. each Gemma Carioti scored as well for the Cougars in the win.

Credit FCC goalies Halle Houck and Mahala Sawyers with the shutout. The duo continues to get it done in goal for Head Coach Joe Walker!

FCC's Lindsey Brant currently leads the NJCAA DI women's soccer in the following categories: Goals (17), Points (37), and shots (56). Teammate Ally Pick ranks number one is assist with 10. That is getting it done!

The Cougars will return to the pitch on Saturday (9/14) afternoon when they host Penn State Mont Alto. The game is set for noon. The two teams squared off on September 7th with the Cougars topping the Nittany Lions by the score of 4-1.
