Volleyball picks up quality win over Nighthawks

Ryan delivers in the clutch for FCC

FREDERICK, Maryland – The Frederick Community College women's volleyball team squared off against the Nighthawks from Northern Virginia Community College on Tuesday night at the Athletics Center on the campus of FCC. The Cougars earned the clean sweep over NOVA, 3-0. With the win, FCC improves to 3-2 overall on the season.

The first set of the match set the tone for the night. The Nighthawks jumped out to a 23-17 lead. The Cougars came roaring back and made a 7-1 run to tie it up at 24-24. FCC would win the set to take the early 1-0 lead. FCC would win the next two sets by the scores of 25-16 and 25-23.

The Cougars tallied 39 kills in the victory. FCC sophomore standout Jacqueline Ryan came to play! She had a match-high nine kills to lead the Cougars. Ryan recorded 13 digs and two services aces. Madison France stepped up big time for FCC Head Coach Patti Westenberg. France smacked eight kills and handed out 27 assists. Keirra Shaffer and Devyn Jacobson registered seven and six kills respectively.  As a team, the Cougars tallied eight service aces.
