Cougars Split In Tri-Match Action At Harrisburg 

The Cougars traveled to Region 19 on Saturday for a tri-match at Harrisburg Area CC. While Frederick found themselves victorious 3-2 against the Lackawanna College Falcons in the opener, they suffered a 3-1 defeat in their second match of the day against the Harrisburg Area Hawks.

Match One - Frederick 3, Lackawanna 2

The Cougars team dropped the first set and fell behind 2-1 early and faced defeat going into the fourth set but battled and fought back to win the fourth set 25-21 to force a decisive fifth set. The Cougars took that momentum and came out the gate to take a 9-1 lead and never looked back to win their third match of the season: 21-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-21, 15-5.

Match Two - Frederick 1, Harrisburg Area 3

The Cougars lost the first set to the host school by six points but were able to level out the match by winning the second set 25-20. A tight back-and-forth third set, where no one was able to take a commanding lead, went in favor of Harrisburg Area, and the Cougars' tired legs caught up with them as they dropped the fourth set 25-18.

Frederick will look to bounce back when it re-enters Region 20 DII play on Tuesday, October 3rd. The Falcons are set to travel to DII opponent Montgomery College for a 6 p.m. start. The Cougars will continue their road bid as they take on Baltimore City CC on Friday, October 6th at 6 p.m. The FCC volleyball team will return home on Thursday, October 10, to help Turn FCC Pink as the team will host a Dig Pink event supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. The game will be played against Anne Arundel CC and will start at 6 p.m. in the Athletics Center.
