“I grew up in the mountains of Pennsylvania, and going to the big city of Frederick was the first time I was away from home and really out of the mountains. I wasn’t that far from home but I was out of my parents’ direct supervision—Yeah! I learned from the time I was little that you needed to work for the things you wanted; there are no handouts. I learned quickly that not having your parents telling you what to do, you needed to
be responsible for juggling work, school and basketball so that you would succeed. I was excited to have the opportunity to further my education but really excited that I was going to play college basketball. I am very thankful for Coach Mehl for recruiting me and giving me an opportunity to play for FCC, the LADY COUGARS. He didn’t know much about me but took a chance. Thinking back and remembering the memories, I had a blast.
It was always reassuring to look into the stands and see all the dedicated fans. Thanks for your support. It is an honor to be chosen among others to be in the first Frederick Community College Hall of Fame class. Thank you.”
