Cougars Drop Home Opener To Delaware Technical CC
By Aaron Meekins
Frederick, Md.- The Cougars started off their home opener in exciting fashion, a breakaway two handed dunk by Kody Jenkins on a nice pass from teammate Morris Robinson who gathered possession from the tipoff. The Cougars continued to push the ball up the floor off of Del Tech misses for transition scores early in the first half, but a very feisty Del Tech relentlessly attacked the Cougars and took a 42-40 lead into the half.
The Cougars came out slow after the break while Del Tech heated up, led by guard Shawn Flanagan who finished the game with 27 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, and 5 steals. Turnovers mounted for the Cougars which led to easy shots and driving opportunities for Flanagan and his teammates. Del Tech finished the game with eleven from behind the arc. The poor second half start, combined with 24 total turnovers, spelled disaster for the home team as the visitors pulled away to take the game 95-71.
Jacob McIntosh nearly posted a double double for the Cougars with 16 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Morris Robinson contributed in multiple ways for the Cougars with 10 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Kody Jenkins added 19 points.
The Cougars return to action Saturday, November 7 against Monroe Community College in the finale of the Frederick Tip Off Mixer. The game is slated to start at 3pm.
