Cougars Down Cardinals 78-72 to Win Third Straight Home Game
Frederick Cougars men's basketball picked up its third straight win at home Saturday, grounding the CCBC Catonsville Cardinals 78-72. The Cougars controlled the pace of the game and were able to outrebound (59-41) the Cardinals down low. FCC shot 54% from the field and was able to wear down the Cardinals' defense to outscore their opponent in both halves.
Four Frederick players ended the contest in double figures. Jaden Arrington led all scorers with a 19-point performance. He was flanked by Isaiah Horner's 15 points off the bench and double-doubles from Malik Witherspoon and Treshawn Warren, who both finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Turning Point
A made free throw by Isaiah Horner gave Frederick a 63-62 lead. Horner missed the second free throw, but Treshawn Warren pulled down a big offensive rebound and put back with 3:50 left in the game, giving FCC a three-point lead. The Cardinals would respond, but Arrington would have a three-point shot to answer. Arrington would knock down two of his five made three's in the final two minutes and ten seconds of the game.
