Cougars Boast Back-to-Back Victories with 75-63 Win at Anne Arundel

Cougars Boast Back-to-Back Victories with 75-63 Win at Anne Arundel

On Wednesday, the Frederick CC Cougars men's basketball team secured consecutive victories, clinching a 75-63 win over the Anne Arundel CC Riverhawks.

Although the Riverhawks initially took a 5-0 lead, the Cougars responded. Through the first ten minutes of the contest, FCC's defense was strong, forced turnovers, and capitalized on fast break opportunities. The Cougars would take the lead after a Justin Morrisey steal, who would get it ahead to Jaden Arrington, who would give it right back to Morrisey for the lay-up to grab the Cougar's first lead 15-14 with 9:55 left in the first half.

The game remained tightly contested, with seven lead changes and two ties in the first half. Ryan Turner's crucial offensive rebound and subsequent basket gave the Cougars a 34-32 lead at halftime. Frederick had a flawless six-for-six performance from the free-throw line.

The Cougars exhibited dominance with a 16-2 run from the start, reaching their largest lead of 50-36 with 14:56 left. The Cougars maintained control, never relinquishing the lead and securing a 12-point victory.

Justin Morrisey, the leading scorer for Frederick, delivered a standout performance with 28 points, 12 rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Terrell Neal contributed eight points and 12 rebounds, while Jaden Arrington chipped in 15 points, four rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Mike Davis added 8 points and seven rebounds to the impressive team effort.

With this win, the Cougars improved to 2-4 overall and 2-3 against Region 20 DII opponents. Looking ahead, the men's basketball team awaits back-to-back home games this weekend, facing Hagerstown CC on Saturday, December 9, at 1 PM and Virginia Peninsula CC on Sunday, December 10, at 3 PM at the Athletics Center.
