
Four in a Row After OT Victory
FOUR IN A ROW! Frederick Cougars men's basketball defeated Virginia Peninsula CC Gators in an overtime thriller 74–69.
In a fast-paced contest, both teams were looking to run and outpace the other. The Cougars played smarter and stronger defensively. FCC forced 15 Gators turnovers and would capitalize off them to score 32 points off turnovers. In a game that featured two ties and eight lead changes, the Cougars had the upper hand at the midway point, up three points from 31 to 28.
Terrell Neal found his rhythm offensively, scoring 12 of his 19 points in the second half. The game would be knotted up at 58 a piece to force a five-minute overtime. The Cougar would attack the basket, make half of their shots from the field, and force Virginia Peninsula to commit six fouls in the overtime session. The Cougars would shoot 91% (10 for 11) from the free throw line in the extra frame to pull out the 5-point victory.
Justin Morrisey dropped 25 points and was nine for nine from the free-throw line with eight rebounds and six assists. Terrell Neal finished with 19 points with six rebounds, four assists, and two steals, while Jaden Arrington chipped in eight points and ten rebounds.
The Cougars improve to 4-4 overall, winners of four in a row, and look to host Region 20 divisional opponents Northern Virginia CC on Wednesday, December 13, at 7 PM in the Athletics Center.
