Bio

Gary Hull was named Head Coach of the Frederick Community College Men’s Soccer program in 2024. A long-time member of the FCC community, Hull has been a full-time Professor of Mathematics and Liberal Arts since 2002. His dedication to education and student success has earned him multiple honors, including the Dr. Henry P. & M. Page Laughlin Distinguished Faculty Award (2017) and the Excellence Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (2018).

Hull’s passion for soccer began early, playing throughout high school and for one year at Shepherd University before shifting his focus to coaching. His coaching career started with the Junior Golf Program at Black Rock Golf Course, where he trained young athletes for ten years. He returned to soccer when his children began playing, coaching youth travel teams in NCSL, EDP, and ECNL, and assisting with Hagerstown High School summer leagues.

FCC Director of Athletics Rodney Bennett describes Hull as the perfect fit to lead the program, stating: “We are very fortunate to have Coach Hull on campus as a faculty member and the right person to lead our men’s soccer team.”

When not on the soccer field or in the classroom, Hull enjoys playing upright bass and mandolin as part of FCC’s jazz ensemble. He lives in Sharpsburg, MD, with his wife, son, daughter, one dog, and four cats.
