Long ball hurts Cougars in 9-5 loss to Harford CC

Harford Community College
FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College softball team captured the lead in the bottom of the second on a Morgan Alder double, putting FCC up 4-2. The Fighting Owls would do damage in the top of the third by scoring three runs and would hold on to a 9-5 victory over FCC.
Emily Bowler earned the victory on the hill for Harford CC. She tossed a complete game, allowing nine hits and five runs while striking out two.
McKenzie Haynes took the loss for FCC and drops to 0-4 on the mound. She went seven innings, allowing nine runs on 14 hits and struck out one.
Harford smacked three homers in the victory. Chloe Moyer, Emily Bowler, and Alexis Mack each parked one over the fence for the Fighting Owls.
The Cougars racked up nine hits in game two. Katie Shugars continues to tattoo the softball. She was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and is batting .424 on the year. Morgan Alder recorded a pair of doubles and scored three runs.
FCC drops to 2-11 (0-6 MD JUCO) overall on the year. Harford CC improves to 4-12 (2-2 MD JUCO) on the season.
UP NEXT: FCC travel to Montgomery College on Wednesday (3/21) to take on the Raptors. First pitch of the doubleheader is set for 3:00 P.M.
