Cougars use long ball to beat Hawks, 13-5
FREDERICK, Md. - FCC fired up the offense in the first inning as Katie Shugars slugged Her sixth homer of the season and the Cougar offense exploded from there. FCC pulled away for good with four runs in the second inning. In the second frame, Cassidy-Thanh Lee-Dinh hit a solo homer and Morgan Alder went deep on a 2-0 count, scoring three runs. That was an enough for FCC to defeat College of Southern Maryland by the score of 13-5 in six innings.
McKenzie Haynes was credited with the victory for FCC. She gave up five runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out two and walking zero. Haynes improves to 2-7 on the year.
The Cougars pounded out 14 hits in the victory. Morgan Alder went 3-for-4 (HR, 3 R, 3 RBIs) while teammates Katie Shugars, Katlyn Davis, and Cassidy-Thanh Lee-Dinh each had two hits. Shugars knocked in four runs in the victory.
