Softball Sweeps Raptors
ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Frederick Community College softball team swept Montgomery College on Monday afternoon by the scores of 9-0 and 9-8. With the two victories, FCC improves to 10-19 overall on the year. The Raptors fall to 8-18 (2-13 MD JUCO).
Game One
FCC starting pitcher Ashley Bentley improved to 6-8 on the year in the circle and tossed a complete game shutout. She had plenty of offensive support. Katie Shugars went 3-for-4 at the plate. Rachel Jarvis had a nice game as she homered and hit a triple in the win. She knocked in four runs. Morgan Alder recorded two triples for the Cougars.
Game Two
Katie Shugars and Katlyn Davis each went 3-for-4 in the win. Shugars connected for her seventh home run of the season. Kayla Green chipped in with two hits. FCC starting pitcher Whitney Dickerson picks up the win on the mound. She improves to 2-4 on the year in the circle.
This concludes regular season play for FCC. The Cougars will travel to CCBC Catonsville on Saturday (4/28) to take on the Cardinals in the play-in games of the Region XX D2 postseason tournament. First pitch is set for noon. It is a best of three series.
