Cardinals Prove Too Much For Cougars In Region XX D2 Softball Postseason Action
CATONSVILLE, Md. – The Frederick Community College softball team traveled to CCBC Catonsville to take on the Cardinals as part of a three-game series. The winner would advance to the Region XX D2 Final Four next weekend held at Cecil College. The Cardinals swept the Cougars by the scores of 10-5 and 9-0 (5 innings). FCC ends the season with an overall record of 10-21.
Game One
CCBC Catonsville struck early in the contest in the first inning putting a run on the board. The Cardinals put the game out of reach in the fourth inning when they scored six runs.
Ashley Bentley took the loss for the Cougars. She lasted six innings, allowing 14 hits and ten runs while striking out four and walking one. Bentley end the season with a record of 6-9 on the year in the circle.
Morgan Alder and Ashley Bentley had three hits each. Bentley connected for a home run and knocked in two runs in the loss.
Game Two
The Cardinals scored nine runs in the first three innings and defeated the Cougars in five innings. FCC had just four hits in the loss and committed three errors in the loss.
Whitney Dickerson took the loss for FCC on the mound. She lasted just 2.1 innings, allowing seven hits and nine runs. She finishes the year with a record of 2-5 on the mound.
