Softball Drops A Pair To Skipjacks
Wye Mills, Md. – The Frederick Community College softball team dropped two games on Wednesday afternoon by the scores of 4-3 and 14-6 to the Skipjacks of Chesapeake College. The Cougars slip to 4-8 (0-2 MD JUCO) on the season and will return to the diamond on 3/29 when they travel to Hagerstown CC for a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:00 P.M.
Game One
FCC led 3-0 late in the game after five innings of play. In the bottom of the sixth, the Skipjacks scored four runs to secure the win. Kaitlyn Naill was hit with the loss on the mound for FCC. She pitched six innings and struck out six batters.
Naill led the FCC offense with three hits while knocking in two runs. Katlyn Davis had a pair of hits, including a triple. For Davis, it was her second triple on the year and she continues to swing a hot bat with a .395 batting average on the season.
Game Two
The Cougars would plate three runs in the top of the second to take the early lead. Chesapeake would answer back and score runs in the final four innings of the game to earn the win by the score of 14-6 in six innings of play.
Taylor Beckley was tagged with the loss on the mound. She pitched 5.1 innings and gave up 12 hits, five freee passes, and 11 earned runs. The Cougars had four miscues on defense.
The FCC offense pounded out 10 hits in the loss. Beckley, Brittany Jolly (.357 BA), and Morgan Lohoefer (.381 BA) each had two hits. Beckley and Lohoefer each hit triples while Jolly knocked in two runs.
