Softball Picks Up First MD JUCO Win in Split with Hagerstown
HAGERSTOWN, Md. – The Frederick Community softball hit the road on Friday afternoon to take on the Hawks from Hagerstown CC in a doubleheader. The Hawks blanked the Cougars in the first game by the score of 8-0. FCC would pick up a solid win in game two by topping Hagerstown, 8-4. FCC sits at 5-9 (1-3 MD JUCO) on the season and will return to the diamond on Sunday (3/31) for the home opener of the 2019 season as they host Niagara County Community College. First pitch is set for noon.
Game One
The Cougar offense was held to just four hits in the loss. On the hill for FCC, McKenzie Haynes was hit with the loss. She pitched just two innings and gave up five earned runs. She was relieved by Alexandra Hofflinger who pitched 3.2 innings, striking out three batters.
Game Two
The Cougar offense came out swinging the bats in game two. FCC pounded out eight hits in the victory. Kaitlyn Naill turned in quite a performance as she did it on the mound and at the dish. Naill led the offense with a homer and three RBIs. She finished the contest with two hits in three plate appearances. Katlyn Davis continues to rip the cover off the ball. She went 2-for-4 and recorded three RBIs. She is hitting a cool .400 and has a total of five doubles on the year. She leads the team with 12 RBIs.
Naill came out of the bullpen to pick up the win. She pitched 3.2 innings and gave up just one run.
