FCC softball enjoys big day at the plate in win over Lakers
McHenry, Md. – The Frederick Community softball team beat Garrett College on Wednesday afternoon by the score of 24-0 in Region XX DII action. The Cougar offense pounded out 13 hits, including seven double and one triple. FCC improves to 17-11 (9-4 MD JUCO) on the season.
The Cougar offense wasted little time getting the offense going. FCC scored 13 runs in the first inning of play. Kaitlyn Naill (.398 BA) and Keri Stevens (.439 BA) each had three hits in the win. Stevens knocked in four runs. Teammate Taylor Beckley (.296 BA) smacked a double and triple, driving in six runs. The Cougars swiped a total of eight bases. Alexandra Hofflinger (3-3) pitched the complete game shutout. She gave up just one hit and struck out seven batters.
