Avery Sickeri Receives NJCAA Rawlings Gold Glove Award
Avery Sickeri is the recipient of the NJCAA Rawlings Gold Glove Award presented by the NFCA, making Frederick Community College history as the first student-athlete to receive this prestigious award on Tuesday.
Seventeen programs were represented in total, with seven programs earning multiple Gold Glove honors.
Sickeri, a graduate of Catoctin High School and Thurmont native, plays second base for the Cougars and had a .980 fielding percentage, committing only two errors. She had 53 putouts and 46 assists in 101 total chances.
The Rawlings Gold Glove Award recipients, presented by the NFCA, were selected by the NFCA's NJCAA Division II All-America Committee following regional voting to identify the finalists at each position.
The selection process was rigorous and fair, with the groups meticulously using fielding statistics and school-submitted video to closely examine finalists and select the winners at every defensive position. Any student-athlete that competed in the current championship year and was nominated by their head coach who is a member in good standing with the NFCA was eligible for consideration for this prestigious accolade.
Congratulations to Avery Sickeri on this outstanding achievement!
