
Miscues costly for FCC in loss to Monroe College
ROCKVILLE, Md. – The Frederick Community College women's basketball team hit the hardwood on Saturday afternoon as part of the Montgomery College Tip-Off Mixer against the Mustangs from Monroe College. The Cougars lost to the Mustangs by the score of 85-74. FCC falls to 1-1 on the season.
The Cougars fell behind early in the contest and trailed heading into the locker room after two quarters of play, 47-29. The deficit was too much to overcome as the Cougars were haunted by 35 turnovers in the loss. FCC shot just 22-of-63 (34.9%) from the field. The Mustangs connected on 34-of-66 (51.5%) field goals from the floor to secure the win.
Credit FCC for coming out of the locker room and outscoring Monroe College 45-38 in the final 20 minutes of action.
FCC registered four players in double figures. Amiah Banks led the Cougars with 18 points. Augusta Kamara netted 16 points while teammates Jone Ayers and Darlene King poured in 14 and 13 points respectively.
FCC will return to the court on Sunday as part of the Montgomery College Tip-Off Mixer as they take on Columbus State Community College. Tip-off is slated for 11:00 A.M.
