Ayers nets 22 in win for FCC

FREDERICK, Md. – The Frederick Community College women's basketball team knocked off Cecil College 91-87 on Wednesday night. The Cougars extend their win streak to four games and remain perfect in conference action at 4-0 and sport an overall record of 5-2.
Despite holding a 16-point lead early in the second quarter, the Cougars allowed Cecil College (2-4) to grab a seven point late in the fourth quarter. In the end, the Cougars would prevail thanks in part to some clutch shooting by Jone Ayers.
Ayers led FCC with 22 point and six assists. She also played stellar defense in the win by recording seven steals. Nia Powell had a huge night under the bucket for FCC. She recorded a double-double in the win with 17 points and 15 boards. Amiah Banks and Darlene King chipped in with 15 and 11 points. Credit Khayla Rudd and Deaveon Johnsen who came off the bench and hit key buckets late in the come from behind win. Johnsen scored 8 points and Rudd finished with seven.
Congratulations to Head Coach Sheldon Henry and the women's basketball coaching staff for notching their first win over Cecil College basketball program.
The Cougars will return to action on 12/8 at home as they play host to the Lady Raptors of Hampton Roads. Tip-off is set for 2:00 P.M. at the Cougar Dome!
