
Cougars Women’s Soccer Dominates Howard Dragons 5-0
Frederick Community College Cougars women's soccer (1-4) secured a dominant 5-0 victory against Howard Community College Dragons (1-3). This is the first win for the program under new head coach Kristi Beckman.
Frederick took early control of the match, with midfielder Alyssa Pizer opening the scoring just 7:21 into the game with an unassisted goal. Shortly after, at 13:12, Maya Spisso doubled Frederick's lead with a well-placed header off a corner kick served up by Raven Miller. Frederick continued to press Howard's defense, and at 28:50, Alexis Hudson scored her first of two goals for the day, assisted by Pizer, giving the home team a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
The second half saw continued pressure from the Cougars. In the 78th minute, Emily Blohm extended the lead to 4-0 with an unassisted goal. Alexis Hudson capped the scoring at 88:05, netting her second of the match after a perfectly served corner kick from Payton Troxell. Despite several attempts, Howard Community College struggled to break down Frederick's defense.
Frederick's goalkeeper, Angie Guzman, faced two shots on goal, both of which she saved, securing her first clean sheet of the season. The Cougars dominated the game with 20 shots, 15 of which were on target, compared to the Dragon's two shots, both on goal. Frederick's offensive pressure led to eight corner kicks, while Howard managed only three.
With this decisive win, FCC improves its record to 1-4-0. Next, the Cougars will travel to play against Carroll CC on Thursday, September 26, at 4:00 PM.
