NJCAA Region 20 Announces Women's Volleyball All-Region Team

BALTIMORE (November 23, 2021) – The NJCAA Region 20 today announced that it has named its women's All-Region Teams. A total of 29 student-athletes from 12 member institutions represent the region's Division II and Division III, led by WVU Potomac State College (5), Frederick Community College (4), Butler County Community College (4), Montgomery College (3), and Hagerstown Community College (3).
 

"I'm very happy for and would like to congratulate these hard-working student-athletes on this achievement," said Jo Ann Rogers, Prince George's Community College Athletic Director and Region 20 Executive Committee Chair. "And thank you to our coaches and volleyball committee for your work on selecting this group of deserving student-athletes."  

Region 20 Division II

Potomac State leads the way with five total student-athletes selected, followed close behind by Frederick with four. Hagerstown and Montgomery each had three, while College of Southern Maryland and Cecil College had a pair each. Chesapeake College and Allegany College of Maryland had one apiece.

About NJCAA Region 20 (www.regionxx.org) The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 20 was established in March 1973 when the NJCAA reorganized the administrative structure to 21 regions, which has since expanded to 24. Prior to 1973, colleges within the Maryland, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia panhandle competed in NJCAA Region 15.

In 1975 the NJCAA established the first women's division for collegiate athletics in the United States.  Cathy Cain was elected the first Region 20 Women's Director. Region 20 became incorporated within the State of Maryland in May 2014, and includes nearly 30 members from Maryland, Western Pennsylvania, Northern Virginia, and West Virginia. Members compete at Division I, Division II, and Division III levels of the NJCAA.
