Breast Cancer Awareness Game
The FCC Cougars volleyball team will help Turn FCC Pink on Thursday, October 10, as the team will host a Dig Pink event supporting Breast Cancer Awareness. The game will be played against Anne Arundel CC and will start at 7 p.m. in the Athletics Center.
In volleyball, "side-out" means regaining control of the ball. Similarly, The Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives.
Similarly, The Side-Out Foundation helps people with breast cancer regain control of their lives – and we started our fundraising efforts through the sport of volleyball. Our Executive Director and Founder, Rick Dunetz, was a high school volleyball coach when his mother, Gloria, was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer. Together he and his father Bryant decided to tell her story, and the story of all those with metastatic breast cancer, through dedicated volleyball matches across the U.S., where communities would rally and fundraise to support breast cancer research. This is how Dig Pink was born.
From its inception, Dig Pink® has been the central program of The Side-Out Foundation, using the power of sport to engage communities and support Side-Out's mission. Dig Pink is a volleyball event experience that coaches, athletes, schools, and communities can all be a part of.
The Cougars are excited to be part of The Side-Out Foundation and its Dig Pink initiative, and we need your help to make our campaign successful! Funds raised for Side-Out go toward a clinical trial specifically for patients with stage 4 breast cancer, the most advanced form of the disease and the least funded area of research.
Visit the team's campaign website to DONATE NOW. We hope to see you at the game on Thursday and thank you so much for helping the Cougars make an impact!
