Sandy began work at FCC in the athletics department through the original CETA program. She spent a large portion of her working life at FCC. She was a strong and loyal supporter of the college and the department. Sandy served as Chair of the Support Personnel Association at the college, worked on numerous college-wide committees while at FCC, and assisted with athletic tournaments. She maintained a tradition of presenting roses to second-year basketball players on Sophomore Nights each year. She also volunteered at the FCC switchboard when needed. Sandy worked with both Dave Clark and Tom Jandovitz in their roles as athletic directors.

Outside of FCC, Sandy volunteered at her church. She also participated in Volksmarches with her colleague and friend Carol Kreimer.
