B. A. Mathematics, Bucknell University, 1979

M.A., Human Sciences, Hood, 1988.

Women’s Basketball Coach, Hood College, 2011-present

Women’s Basketball Coach, 1988-2002; 2006-2010

Jack became head coach of women’s basketball at Frederick Community College in 1988, which was a rebuilding year for the team.  During his tenure of 18 years, he was 393-162, including only one losing season.  He coached his teams to 11 consecutive seasons with at least 20 victories.  He guided the team to five Maryland JUCO championships, six Region XX championships, and five trips to the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament, where the team was runner-up in 2001.  He coached multiple All-Americans and had Kodak All-Americans during his tenure.  He was inducted into the Alvin Quinn YMCA Hall of Fame in 2005.

Jack taught math at Brunswick (MD) High School for 32 years, earning the 2007 Charles Tressler Distinguished Teacher Award.  He was a finalist for the 1991 Mathematics Teacher of the Year Award by the Maryland Council of Teachers in Mathematics.  At Brunswick, he also coached baseball, boys basketball JV, and girls basketball.  He has served as the Women’s Basketball Coach at Hood College since 2011.  Jack is married to Carrie, and has two sons, Timothy and Bradley.

“I was very fortunate to work at FCC.  I always had great support from the College.  I had a chance to coach some excellent players, and I worked with two coaches, Jim Weddle and Dave Miller, who helped guide me and were very supportive of the women’s basketball program.  Sandy Smith also played a large part in our success, helping with every aspect of our program from washing uniforms to helping schedule.  All in all, it was a great experience for me and FCC will always be very special to me.”
