GAME 1 RECAP

Cougars strike early, but lose late to Fighting Owls

As the old saying goes in baseball, "A lot can happen after two outs."  That was the case for FCC in the first inning as the Cougars smacked six hits highlighted by a two-run single delivered by Brett Strahin.  The Cougars would plate five runners and take an early  5-1 lead.

The Fighting Owls would tie it up in the bottom of the third and cling to a 7-6 lead after six innings of play.  However, the Fighting Owls exploded in the top of the seventh putting a crooked number on the board to secure the victory, 16-6.  The loss snaps the eighteen game win streak by the Cougars.

Devin Bell, Chris Mattison, and Garrett Getz had two hits apiece in the loss.

Adam Reed took the hill for the Cougars and went two innings.  Zachary Sines would come in and pitch the final five innings for the Cougars.  Sines suffered the loss and falls to 1-1 on the season.

GAME 2 RECAP

Grand slam hurts Cougars

The Fighting Owls struck early in game two with a six spot on the board in the top of the second highlighted by a grand slam hit by Joe Sheeran.  FCC would bounce back in the bottom of the second with an RBI single by Evan Appleby scoring Brett Strahin.  The Cougars would tack on two more runs and cut the deficit to 6-3 after two innings.  Harford would score two more runs in the third inning and one run in the fifth to seal the victory over the Cougars, 9-4.

Chris Mattison registered two hits in game two and extended his hit streak to twenty games.  Entering Saturday's contests, Mattison was batting .600 and has tallied 42 hits on the season with 35 runs knocked in for the Cougar offense.

FCC starting pitcher Andrew Shreiner takes the loss and falls to 2-2 on the season.  Aaron Roby came in out of the pen to relieve Shreiner and did a nice job finishing out the game for the Cougars.
