Mattison has perfect day as Cougars down Blazers

Frederick, Md.— For all you avid baseball fans out there one of the most famous and colorful baseball announcers was the late Harry Caray with the Chicago Cubs!  If he would have been behind the microphone at today's game he would have used his popular phrase "Holy Cow" on a number of occasions!  The FCC Cougars baseball squad hosted Hood College JV on a gorgeous Saturday afternoon for a single nine inning game.  FCC defeated the Blazers 10-1 and run their overall record to 42-6 on the year.

Game recap:

FCC's slugger Chris Mattison had himself one heck of a day.  Mattison entered today's game tied for the most hits (89) in a single season and wasted little time inking his name to the top of the list with a perfect day at the dish.  He came up-to-bat in the second inning and absolutely crushed the first pitch he saw over the left field fence and it was a "no-doubter" right when it left the bat.  This was hit #90 on the season and the big man was just getting warmed up.  CM would deliver three more hits on the day including a 3-run double and a 3-run homer tallying 7 RBI in the victory.  He now has 93 hits on the season for the Cougars with ten bombs.  The big fella is batting .557 and has 75 RBI on the year.

Andrew Shreiner started on the hill for FCC and pitched five productive innings to earn the victory.  Shreiner is now 3-2 on the year.  Adam Reed came in relief to hold the Blazers down for three innings and John Kominars pitched the ninth to secure the victory.
